A community that plays its game at the intersection of Medicine and Technology
Let’s write about using chatGPT has a medical buddy
If you haven't heard about the language model ChatGPT yet, you may be living under a rock. Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT is an AI program that uses machine learning to generate human-like text based on a given prompt or topic. It is particularly adept at generating conversational responses. By definition, ChatGPT is a form of generative AI, meaning it is able to generate something (in this case, a body of text). There are other forms of generative AI, such as models that can generate images, audio, and even videos.
For the past two months, I have been utilizing the "intelligent" capabilities of ChatGPT as a medical buddy. Some of the ways I have used it include:
Having discussions about medical subjects I have read about
Using it to test my knowledge
Playing a fun game where it thinks of a medical condition and I am supposed to ask questions until I can make an informed guess.
The most interesting thing has to be playing the "guess the medical condition" game. Here is a screenshot of our conversation.
It is also enjoyable to discuss new topics I read with it. For instance, yesterday I learned about the CRISPR-Cas system in bacterial genetics.

Be careful though, it is not correct all the time
IT IS NOT THE END
This can be an exciting opportunity for you, but be aware that it could be improved significantly. The amount of friction that exists in using this technology in this way is not something we should ignore. Why does it have to be text chat? Why not use an audio conversation to significantly reduce friction? Don’t worry, something way better is on its way. Who knows, maybe I am part of the team that builds it 😂😂
Peace ✌🏽
